`Īliokai (pronounced "ee-lee-oh-kai") translates to "Sea Dog" in Hawaiian. This is the informal shorthand word for the Hawaiian Monk Seal. The more formal name is `Īlio holo i ka uaua which translates to "Dog that Runs in the Rough Water."
