Apply to damp hair. Put a nickel to quarter size amount in the palm of your hands, rub hands together, grab ends of hair to apply, then smooth on the top of your head for fly-aways. If your hair is medium to course / curly hair apply another nickel to quarter's worth to the body of your hair if needed.
For surfers, paddlers, swimmers… we recommend application to damp hair before going into the water (braid hair to keep it from drying out in salt water and rinse hair immediately after exiting the water).
For dry scalp, oil can be applied directly with dropper or fingertips and massaged in.
While Hanalei Hair Oil works best on medium to course hair those with fine hair can use it more sparingly and focus application on ends and flyaways. If you have thin or thinning hair, scalp irritation, also try Mom's Hair Serum (inspired by mom).
Try our Awapuhi Leave-in to balance hair PH. Add conditioning to dry hair; adds body to more fine hair.
Other Tips: Avoid shampoos and conditioners heavy in skin irritants, chemical fragrances and preservatives. • Try our shampoo, conditioner bar and hair oil box sets! • Switch up your hair care products – shampoos, conditions, leave-ins – keep your fave products in a rotation. • When using oils give your hair and scalp a vinegar rinse 1-2x's a month (use a diluted apple cider vinegar and water blend 20/80% – massage into scalp). • Avoid heavily chlorinated and fluoridated waters. If in home water filters are not possible, take a bottle of purified or distilled water into the shower and use that for the final rinse for your scalp and hair (and face and body!).
